Countless QA teams continue using subpar testing tools because they can’t stand the thought of migrating thousands of test artifacts or training testers on an entirely new platform. Many would prefer the status quo of using their current toolset because they believe that a migration will be painful, or that it will slow them down. But there’s a problem with that logic: The longer they wait, the more obsolete their current toolset becomes, and the further removed QA becomes from the rest of the software development lifecycle — which often means that testing lags behind, remaining a roadblock on the agile transformation journey. This white paper will cover: o The true cost of using inadequate legacy tools, and why migrating now is better than waiting o Six steps to make migration as painless as possible for your QA and development teams o How the entire SDLC benefits from a flexible toolset that integrates quality into agile processes

Organizations that embrace and practice agility are proven to be more effective in dealing with change. Key to fostering agility is continuous learning and development. Learning is not an event-based occurrence where one-time training can satisfy skill gaps; learning opportunities need to be accessible, targeted, and continuous. With a strong learning culture that aligns with business objectives, companies are better able to embrace an agile mindset, and with increased agility, performance will improve and the overall business impact will increase.

Electricity provides us with lights and power, both on the job and at home. It’s such a normal part of our lives that we often forget that all that power can be dangerous, too. We’ve all experienced minor electric shocks, but shocks can be severe enough to kill. Careless use of electricity causes 10 percent of job- related deaths, as well as many serious injuries. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has some very detailed regulations designed to keep electricity from becoming a dangerous hazard.

Occupational diseases and even death can be caused by air contaminants or oxygen deficiency in work areas. Employers must provide respirators and training to each employee who is or may be exposed to air contaminants or oxygen-deficient atmospheres when engineering and administrative controls cannot feasibly or effectively reduce exposures to safe levels. Workplaces with respirators must establish a written respiratory protection program that includes respirator selection criteria, employee training, medical evaluations, and fit-testing procedures.

The media and entertainment industry was valued at $1.81 trillion in 2016, and is expected to reach $2.14 trillion by 2020. Activities within this industry have grown over the last couple of years, and now range from creating content for movies, TV and games, to delivering that content. This is increasingly performed via on-demand data networks rather than traditional over-the-air broadcasting, watched over high resolution displays that enhance the overall viewing experience of the user, and even the latter is being delivered from the same storage repositories. Media production is also now prevalent in areas not traditionally associated with this activity, such as training, museums, and education.

Too remedial. Too retrospective. Too static. Too irrelevant to the team leader. Too time-consuming. Such are the complaints heard repeatedly about Performance Management and Engagement systems. And these don’t even touch on the biggest problem of all: current systems produce a tidal wave of unreliable data. The ratings they yield are based on the notion that, with enough time and training, managers (and peers) can become reliable raters of other people’s skills and competencies. Sadly, that’s not true. A large body of research reveals: 61% of your manager’s rating of you is a reflection of the manager, not of you. Your organization, apparently unaware of this, then persists on paying you, training you, and promoting you—and everyone else in the organization—based on these flawed ratings.
